Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Waco.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Waco Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

Michael did an excellent job of showing how to use the natural light to capture different aspects of the model in portraits. The model was excellent too.

A very informative event. Michael and his model discussed and setup various existing light scenarios. Discussed positioning the model for available light, camera settings and types of light available throughout the day.

It was cold. It was rainy. It was gloomy. All conditions that I would never have thought to go out and shoot in. But it was AMAZING!!! The class showed me what those conditions can yield: drama and the reflections the pools of water created. It was AMAZING! The instructor was helpful but she did not hover. She allowed me to just discover and create.

Michael did a terrific job in explaining the basics of a digital camera. He spent time with each student and endured our questions without hesitation. I hope to have another class with him.

I took the time to really study the nature around me. Mount calm, Tx is my home town. I love doing nature shots with water around. Water really makes it reflect and it's like your looking in a mirror. So not only do you capture the sky once but you will see it twice due to the water reflecting the nature around and above it.

I had decided to go downtown to look for subjects, but the streets were practically empty. The weather was cold and clear, and every shot I took on the sunny side of the street had extremely hard light lines. When I got to 601 Franklin Avenue, it seemed to me that the white facade provided almost perfect contrast, especially with the classi

I was looking for Whimbrels, or other migratory shore birds when I spotted this common tern flying around. At some point it dove and caught a fish. I instinctively aimed my camera and took a few pictures before flying away.

Steam was really enshrouding the main pool of Grand Prismatic, so I looked for other compelling ways to capture images. This image features some of the sinter terraces and cooler water thermophiles thriving around the central pool perimeter.
